How To Work With AI to Create and Publish a Recipe

I've been having fun using AI to create recipes lately, here's what's working well for me:

Getting Started with Claude AI

Step 1: Log into claude.ai with your Google account and choose the Free plan

Step 2: Type in any crazy (or normal) recipe idea

Or even just fish for ideas!

Step 3: Claude will do its best to give you a recipe (or it'll tell you if your idea is really bad)

Customizing Your Recipe

Now my favorite part is making tweaks and substitutions. If Claude says to use almond flour, but you have coconut flour in the house, ask for a substitution.

You can ask about:

Increasing the yield: Adjust serving sizes to make more or less

Changing the cooking method: Switch from baking to air frying, stovetop to slow cooker, etc.

Making the process more efficient: Streamline steps, reduce prep time, or simplify techniques

The possibilities are endless!

Preparing for Publication

Once you're happy with your recipe, ask for it in recipe schema HTML markup

This creates structured data that search engines can understand and display in recipe cards.

Setting Up Your Recipe Blog

Creating Your Blog

Step 1: Create a blog on blogger.com

Step 2: Sign in with your Google account

Step 3: Give your blog a title

Step 4: Choose a URL - just play around until you find one that isn't used

Step 5: Put in a display name to identify you as the author

Configuring Settings

Step 6: Go to Settings, click on Description and set a description

Step 7: Scroll to the very bottom of the settings under General and choose "Edit Profile"

Step 8: Un-toggle "Show my profile page"

Step 9: Click on the Blogger icon to go back

Publishing Your Recipe

Step 1: Click "New Post"

Step 2: Click the pencil icon and change to HTML view

Step 3: Back on claude.ai, in the right pane, change to HTML view as well

Step 4: Click anywhere amongst the HTML to put the cursor there, then hit Ctrl+A on your keyboard to select all

  • Make sure that only the HTML in the right pane is selected, otherwise try again
  • Then hit Ctrl+C on your keyboard to copy

Step 5: Back on Blogger.com, set a title, then click to put the cursor in the default html <p>&nbsp;</p>

Step 6: Hit Ctrl+A to select all and Ctrl+V to paste

Step 7: Click Publish

Enjoy Your Recipe Book!

Now you can click "View Blog", which opens the website which is now your personal (but also public) recipe book.

Pro tip: Add it to your bookmarks for easy access!

Happy cooking and happy blogging!
